- This recipe calls for an air fryer. If you don’t have an air fryer this recipe could also baked in the oven but you might not get the same crisp you would in an air fryer.
- Extra firm tofu: If your tofu is in packed in water you will need to press for 10 minutes or less to get some of the moisture out. If you don’t have a tofu press you can also press with tea or paper towels and a heavy pot. Pressing tofu gives it a crispier texture.
- Gluten free soy sauce
- Nutritional yeast: Or “nooch” as we vegans call it. This yellow powder gives the tofu its savory and “cheesy” flavor.
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Salt
- Pepper
- Red pepper flakes: this is optional but it does give it a little extra kick!

Crispy Air Fryer Tofu
Ingredients
- 1 14 or 16 oz. extra firm tofu Pressed
- 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 Tbsp gluten free soy sauce
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (for an added kick)
Instructions
- Prepare your tofu by pressing out excess moisture with tofu press or heavy object.
- Once pressed, cut your tofu into cubes
- Add your cubed tofu into a medium bowl and pour on soy sauce. Toss to coat.
- Sprinkle nutritional yeast, onion powder garlic salt, and pepper and red pepper flakes. Toss to coat.
- Pour prepared tofu into air fryer basket and air fryer at 400 F for 15 minutes, tossing halfway through cooking time.
- Let cool 5 minutes and serve.
