Hot, Cheesy, and Guilt-Free: Vegan & Gluten-Free Pizza Bread

If your family loves pizza as much as ours does, you’re in for a treat! Instead of ordering takeout loaded with gluten and dairy, we whip up this easy and delicious Vegan & Gluten-Free Pizza Bread right at home—and it’s a huge hit with our kids every time. This recipe is perfect for the traditional Friday night pizza night or even busy weeknights when you want something comforting, quick, and full of flavor.
We start with a soft, artisan-style gluten-free loaf, slather it with our homemade veggie-packed pizza sauce, and top it with your favorite vegan cheese. It’s a fun, family-friendly twist on traditional pizza that’s 100% plant-based, allergy-friendly, and seriously satisfying. Whether you’re new to a gluten-free vegan lifestyle or just looking for a healthier pizza night, this one’s a keeper!

Top Tip
For the easiest slicing, thaw your gluten-free loaf overnight in the fridge. Trying to cut it frozen is tough and can ruin the texture—plus, pre-thawed bread toasts up perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside!
Ingredients needed (with substitutions)
- Gluten-Free & Vegan Bread Loaf: I use Greenlite Take & Bake Classic Artisan Bread, a gluten-free and vegan option I find in the freezer section at Whole Foods.
- Pizza Sauce: I prefer my own veggie-packed pizza sauce recipe, but feel free to use any pizza sauce you love.
- Vegan Cheese: Choose from vegan shreds, slices, or a cashew-based liquid cheese to top your creation.
- Fresh Basil and grape tomatoes to top: Feel free to add any of your favorite pizza toppings though!

Instructions

Step 1: Thaw the Bread
Remove the gluten-free loaf from the freezer the night before and place it in the refrigerator to thaw. This step makes slicing a breeze.

Step 2: Prepare the Pizza Sauce
Use this delicious and nutritious recipe for veggie packed pizza sauce or a jar of pre-made sauce, then set it aside.
Step 3: Preheat your oven or air fryer
For oven: Preheat to 390°F (200°C)
For air fryer: Preheat to 375°F (if your model requires it)
Step 4: Slice the bread
Next you’ll slice your bread in half lengthwise.
Step 5: Add the sauce
Spread a generous layer of pizza sauce across each half of the bread.
Step 5: Top with vegan cheese
Sprinkle your favorite vegan shredded cheese evenly on top.
Step 6: Bake or Air Fry
Oven: Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and beginning to brown.
Air fryer: Cook for 7–10 minutes, checking frequently after 7 minutes for bubbling cheese and golden edges.

Step 7: Allow to Cool and Add Toppings
Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 5 minutes so the cheese sets and it’s easier to handle.
Top with fresh basil, halved cherry tomatoes, or any other veggies you love.

Step 8: Slice and Enjoy!
Cut into halves or pieces and serve!
